Big Lottery funding

Harbour Place has been awarded Big Lottery funding. This funding will help us support some of the most vulnerable members of our community for a further five years.

Harbour Place will use the funding to provide advice and advocacy on issues such as education, employment and health, as well as other facilities such as showers, healthy meals and clothing provision.

As part of The Harbour Place Health Well-Being and Worklessness Project our service users will be able to access computers to help them find employment and educational courses. Volunteering opportunities offer an exciting chance gain experience and knowledge working with this client group that is vital if you wish to work in this field, it will also help build confidence and life skills which can be taken into all aspects of life. Health trainers also visit the centre to support those beneficiaries who are struggling with drug misuse issues.

Allen Young, our Project Director said: “Harbour Place is the only day centre of its kind in North East Lincolnshire and plays a unique roll in providing a range of services and a meeting place for homeless and other vulnerable people. The main area of care relates to our clients' health, housing and employment needs. The BIG Lottery funding which forms a significant part of our funding requirements will allow us to further improve and develop our service offering over the longer term. Most importantly the grant will have a direct impact on improving the health and well-being of all our service users.”

Caroline James, Big Lottery Fund Head of Region for Yorkshire & The Humber, said:  “This project will bring vital support to homeless and other vulnerable people in North East Lincolnshire as it helps to improve well-being and gets lives back on track. The work of Harbour Place exactly matches one of the Big Lottery Fund’s key aims, to improve the lives of those most in need. This five years worth of funding will do exactly that and I hope the centre continues to go from strength to strength.”
